The Note-book, here printed for the first time, was discovered among miscellaneous manuscript papers at Brompton hall, the home of the Cayley family in the North Riding of Yorkshire. cf. Introduction by the editor, J.E. Hodgson. "List of the Cayley papers. Mechanical and technical, being mostly unpublished holograph manuscripts" : p. [80]-88. Back end paper has an attached Times article dated June 19, 1935 picturing and describing an engraving of similar design but not included in Cayley's notebook.
